Call for Nominations: Vermont State Colleges System Board of Trustees 2019 Award for Extraordinary Contribution

MONTPELIER, VT — The Vermont State Colleges System Board of Trustees is calling for nominations for its Award for Extraordinary Contribution to be conferred at the 2019 VSCS Hall of Fame event.

The Board will recognize the winner of the Award for Extraordinary Contribution and four alumni inductees at its fourth annual Hall of Fame celebration on March 14, 2019 at the Capitol Plaza in Montpelier. Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships for Vermont students.

In recognition of the exceptional leaders who have built and sustained the VSCS since 1961, the Trustees confer their Award for Extraordinary Contribution to an individual whose work has made a significant, positive impact on the VSCS as a whole.   Past honorees include Governor Phil Hoff, Founding President of the Community College of Vermont Peter Smith, founding Vermont State Colleges Provost Robert Babcock, and alumnus, educator and public servant George Cross.

The VSCS Hall of Fame event, attended annually by over 300 guests, highlights the accomplishments of the system’s many talented alumni and shines a spotlight on the positive impact of the VSCS on the economic, intellectual, and civic wellbeing of Vermont.

The Board invites nominations from the public for a person or organization that has made a significant and positive impact on the Vermont State Colleges System. We seek nominees whose accomplishments are a reflection of the ideals of our colleges and universities as a public system of higher education; who have provided exemplary service to the State of Vermont; and/or whose outstanding work has made a significant, positive impact on the Vermont State Colleges System as a whole.

How to submit a nomination:

  • Nominations should include a statement of 500 words or less that explains why the individual or organization should be chosen.
  • Please include a resume or summary of the nominee’s work and community involvement.
  • The awardee will be chosen by the Board at its September meeting.
  • Please submit nominations by email to: info@vsc.edu before September 17, 2018.
