Fall update from our CIO:
Fall greetings. I hope you are all enjoying the cooler mornings, crisp air, and beauty that Vermont gives us this time of year. I wanted to take the opportunity to share brief news and awareness as we transition into October, which in the IT world is also recognized as cybersecurity awareness month. At the start of each week this month, you will notice an informational email in your inbox from our Cybersecurity team. Our goal is to provide you with brief and effective information to help keep you safe. One of the most important things we can do as a community to keep safe from cyber incidents is to learn how to recognize and prevent falling victim to such incidents. Education is one of our most powerful tools. To start off the month, the cybersecurity team sent a message out with tips for passwords and what will follow are more tips on email safety and more. If you ever have any questions or are suspicious of an email or some other communication that seems out of the norm, please forward a message to cybersecurity@vsc.edu. Our team will be happy to assist you and nothing makes us happier than seeing proactive intentions from our community members. Higher education has seen an over 50% increase in cyber-attacks in recent years and we all play an important role in ensuring we do our part to keep ourselves and our community safe. I thank you for your participation in advance.
Our work on building an IT shared services organization continues in addition to a number of transformation projects. I encourage you to stay up to date via our transformation website: https://transformation.vsc.edu/.
As always, please reach out with any questions, ideas, or concerns. Wishing you a healthy fall and successful semester.
Best,
Kellie Campbell, Ed.D., CIO

New support site/pilot:
The IT teams across the system have been collaborating on a shared documentation effort. You can find the launch of our new site, available here: https://support.vsc.edu/ in addition to our pilot of a new chatbot function to better service our community 24/7! We emphasize this is a pilot and welcome feedback on your experience.
