Direct Admissions FAQs

Are there fees or any other additional costs associated with VSCS Direct Admissions?
None.

How do I get started?
If you are not already a CCV student, your first step is to apply for admission at CCV. If you’re already a CCV student, begin by completing your VSCS Direct Admissions enrollment form.

When should I enroll in the VSCS Direct Admissions program?
Once you are a CCV student, you can join the program at any time. We recommend you join as soon as possible so that you can take advantage of the program’s benefits early and often.

Is admission to the program competitive?
No. VSCS Direct Admissions is open to all CCV degree seeking students. You’re guaranteed admission into your destination school so long as graduate from CCV and successfully complete the courses on your transfer map.

Can I change my mind after I enter the VSCS Direct Admissions program?
Yes.

How will I know for sure that my courses are going to transfer?
You’ll be conditionally admitted to the major at your destination college which will allow you and your advisor to monitor exactly how your CCV courses are going to fit into the major at your destination college.

I attended another college before CCV. How are these transfer credits evaluated?
Your transcript will be reviewed by both colleges early in the process. That way, you will know exactly what courses will transfer for both CCV and your VSCS destination school throughout your time in the program.

Can I use the VSCS Direct Admissions program to transfer to schools outside the Vermont State Colleges system?
No. Although you can still choose to transfer to colleges outside the Vermont State Colleges system, this program is unique to the VSCS.

Can I apply to more than one major or school in the VSCS Direct Admissions program?
No. You can only enroll in one major/school as a part of this program. You can however change your mind if you decide to take a different path.

Is it possible to transfer within the Vermont State College system even if I’m not in the VSCS Direct Admission program?
Yes… but you’ll miss out on some of the benefits of the VSCS Direct Admission program.

Can I transfer before I graduate from CCV?
Yes… but you’ll miss out on some of the benefits of the VSCS Direct Admission program.

What if the program I want isn’t available for the VSCS Direct Admissions program?
We are working to develop more transfer maps to give you more options. If you don’t see the program you want, please let us know. (Please note that a few majors with limited availability will be ineligible for VSCS Direct Admission but it still may be possible to transfer into such programs.)

After I’m in the program, where do I go for help?
While you are a CCV student, your CCV advisor will continue to be your primary point of contact and can monitor your progress toward graduation at both schools. You can also contact the admissions department at your destination college.

What if the course requirements for the major at my destination college change?
We won’t pull the rug out from under you so you’ll have the option to still follow the requirements for the major based on when you entered the VSCS Direct Admissions program.
